20 hours of straight traveling later, and here I am sitting
in my dorm room at Charles University in Prague. The trip definitely didn’t come without complications
though. Since my last post, I
ended up missing my flight from Brussels to Prague – because I was in the
process of being sick. Rough
luck. Luckily I found pity
from a nice lady at Brussels airlines who got me onto the next flight for free -----minus my luggage.
**Traveler’s tip**
When using Brussels airlines to travel, be sure that you only take one
bag. Any extra bags will cost
around $100 roundtrip. However, they will give a free meal or two every flight
– no matter the length (My flight from Brussels to Prague was only about an
hour, the sandwiches looked delicious, however I was too sick to eat at that
point).
I arrived in Prague, and instead of fatigue setting in, I
was overcome with a sense of excitement.
This is my new home for the next 5 weeks! I already love it. Upon arrival at Charles University, the
lovely ladies in charge were waiting for “the sick one” and ushered me into my
very own private room. I opted to
not go to the hospital when I found out that I would have to pay everything
upfront as a foreigner, and then get reimbursed from my travel insurance months
later back in the states. I hoped I
would just magically feel better I guess.
With no luggage, I’m sleeping in the clothes I’ve been traveling
in – which is gross. But Zuzanna (my sort of dorm-mom) made me Czech tea and
loaded me up with medicine. I should
finally be able to sleep tonight.
On that note –I have a full day of class orientation
tomorrow. So I am shutting the
lights out here in Prague. Sleep
well ya’ll!
Best,
Cass
