Story time!

Our Professorkas took us on an educational walk around Praha this afternoon.
This is {some} of what I learned!

This is the home of one of the first Duchess' of Czechoslovakia.
It is rumored that if she wasn't happy with one of her male lovers,  she had them tossed over the side of her fortress.
Woman power?  Evidently :)
There is also a tunnel towards the bottom left that is fairly new.
Constructed at the turn of the 20th century, it allowed traffic to finally navigate from one side of Praha to the other.

This is the Vltava River.
It is THE defining river in Praha.
The city extends on either side of the river, and that defines where you are in Prague.

This was taken on my walk to class this morning with the Singapore ladies.
We have to walk over Charles' Bridge daily as our dorms are on the other side of the river.
It's quite the tourist hotspot.

Charles' Bridge.
There are statues on either side for the entire length.
Absolutely breath taking!

This was my Survival Czech teacher today.
Talk about a bubbly personality!
On our walk, we went to a playground for children.
However, the playground was designed with old Czech folklore in mind.
One story goes as such:
A beautiful Czech Duchess needed a husband, and there were no men in sight!
So she sent her horse alone to find her a husband.
The wooden statue you see here was a peasant man, and the horse found him in the field working.
That day his life changed, and he became a Duke!
